Van Vihar

Van Vihar: Nurturing Nature, Empowering Communities 488 million hectares (Mha) of tree cover has been lost since the beginning of the century. Tree cover loss has been rising in recent history, from 13.4 Mha of tree cover loss in 2001 to 28.3 Mha in 2023. Through Van Vihar program, we're dedicated to creating sustainable and resilient ecosystems. We achieve this by:

Planting Mini-Forests: We establish forests on Gram Panchayat land, typically planting a minimum of 4,000 native trees per forest and a waterbody if required. We use different techniques like Miyawaki and high density plantation based on the site assessment and community needs.

Creating Food Forests: We design edible landscapes, each containing a minimum of 1,000 fruit, vegetable, and fodder trees. Developing Permaculture Farms: We implement sustainable farming practices to promote food security and ecological health. Our Approach Community-Centric: We collaborate with local communities to ensure long-term sustainability. Eco-Friendly Practices: We prioritize natural methods and minimize environmental impact. We also ensure water conservation through smart irrigation techniques.
Technological Innovation: We leverage drone technology for efficient monitoring and management.
Holistic Ecosystem Approach: We consider the interconnectedness of all living things. We do not promote the practice of monoculture.
Supporting Farmers: We empower farmers through training, technology, and sustainable farming practices.
Conservation and Restoration: We restore degraded lands, revitalize water bodies, and promote regenerative agriculture.
